In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
The Care Manager performs a leadership role in Acute Care and reports directly to the Site Manager. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, team leadership and organization over the activities in Acute Care, Emergency, Operating room and MDR within a specific area(s) in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The Care Manager is responsible and accountable for making front line unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of Acute Care. The Care Manager serves as the primary contact person within the department for staff, physicians, patients/families and members of the public.
Minimum of five (5) years related experience in clinical practice required. Previous experience in acute/ambulatory care or emergency services required. Current active registration with the CARNA or recognized professional body. Proven clinical and leadership skills. Superior organizational skills. Evidence of strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Evidence of initiative, flexibility and creativity. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients/families, physicians, community agencies, professional colleagues, volunteers and the community. Evidence of strong commitment to excellence in patient care. Ability to function effectively in a dynamic work environment.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Previous management experience preferred.
