An exciting opportunity exists within the Intensive Cardiac Care program at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for a highly motivated and innovative Manager to join and become an integrated member of the clinical operations team, working in close partnership with the Program and Medical Directors for South Zone. Medicine Hat is located in Southeast Alberta along the South Saskatchewan River, approximately 169 km east of Lethbridge and 295 southeast of Calgary. The Manager is responsible and accountable for the daily operations of a 10 bed adult ICU/CCU at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital that encompasses patients with respiratory, cardiac, and/or multisystem organ failure. Actively participates in budget planning; resource allocation; implementing and maintaining clinical best practice standards; workforce optimization; and performance development. Demands demonstrated ability in change management, strategic and collaborative leadership, and ability to engage a multidisciplinary team in providing and optimizing patient-centered care.
Minimum 5 years of current experience in critical care nursing. A minimum of post-secondary education in a health profession. Valid practice permit from CARNA. BLS-C (Basic Rescuer) training. Commitment to acquiring AHS recommended immunizations within the first ninety (90) days of employment. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Uses strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing long-term quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Leadership skills, including effective communication skills, demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation among, and build solid relationships with, public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners.
Related Bachelors’ Degree. ACLS. Experience in managing a unionized environment. Minimum 2 years of acute or critical care management experience & demonstrated ability in analytical decision making, coaching for performance, mentorship/conflict management, & management of diverse human/financial/physical resources in a changing/complex environment. Expertise with electronic health information systems & financial/human resources applications (e.g. ECritical, EPeople, Oracle/EManager, MySafetyNet, RLS)
