The University’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science, the Department of Psychiatric Nursing, and the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning.
The Department of Psychiatric Nursing offers a Psychiatric Nursing Diploma and a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing. The Psychiatric Nursing Diploma is delivered in Edmonton at MacEwan’s City Centre Campus and in Ponoka at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury. The post-diploma Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing is delivered by distance.
Applications are invited for Nurse Educator positions (full-time over 9 months, with a comprehensive 12-month benefits package) in the Department of Psychiatric Nursing.
Nurse Educators are primarily responsible for clinical and laboratory instruction. Successful candidates could be assigned teaching duties in geriatrics, medical/surgical, mental health and other clinical settings. Candidates must hold a baccalaureate degree in nursing; a BPN or BScN will be accepted. A minimum of 3 years of clinical practice, with experience in acute medical/surgical and/or acute psychiatry, is preferred. Candidates should also possess strong practice knowledge and skills; a commitment to the profession of nursing; enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate psychiatric nursing students; and interest in ongoing professional development.
Active licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) and/or the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) is required.
The position start date is mid-late August 2019. A first review of applicants will start June 3, 2019, and position will remain open until suitable candidates are found.
