MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada.  The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science that offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree; the Department of Psychiatric Nursing that offers a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN), and a Psychiatric Nursing Diploma; as well as the Department of Interprofessional Nursing Education and Simulation Learning in which the Centre for Professional Nursing Education and the Clinical Simulation Centre provide specialized programs. The Centre for Professional Nursing Education offers a mosaic of innovative continuing education programs grounded in evidence-based practice and responsive to a dynamic health care environment. The Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) is 25,000 square feet of authentic clinical spaces that set the stage for students to practice skills and critical thinking in a realistic learning environment.


Applications are invited for a 12-month appointment (0.8 FTE) as an Academic Coordinator in the Department of Interprofessional Education and Simulation Learning at MacEwan University. The Academic Coordinator is accountable for the organization, coordination, implementation, curriculum maintenance and clinical placement coordination of assigned program areas. The initial assignment will include coordination for the Perioperative Nursing Post Diploma for Registered Nurses and the Perioperative Nursing Program for Licensed Practical Nurses.  Reporting to the Chair, Department of Interprofessional Education and Simulation Learning, the Academic Coordinator will work with faculty and staff to ensure the offerings are academically sound and financially sustainable.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will have recent clinical experience in the perioperative environment, post-secondary teaching experience with familiarity within online course delivery, project management skills, as well as strong interpersonal and multi-tasking skills. The successful candidate will have, or be eligible for, registration with CARNA. Applicants must have a degree in nursing and will preferably have a graduate degree in nursing or education.
