MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that is relevant and reflective of current nursing practice in the province and across Canada.  The university’s Faculty of Nursing includes the Department of Nursing Science that offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree; the Department of Psychiatric Nursing that offers a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN), and a Psychiatric Nursing Diploma; and the Department of Interprofessional Education and Simulation Learning (DIESL) which houses two centers. The Centre for Professional Nursing Education offers a mosaic of innovative continuing education programs grounded in evidence-based practice and responsive to a dynamic health care environment. The Clinical Simulation Centre is 25,000 square feet of authentic clinical spaces that set the stage for students to practice skills and critical thinking in a realistic learning environment.

DIESL is dedicated to serving front-line multidisciplinary practitioners who strive to improve the health and quality of life for individuals, communities and industries.  This department brings together the Centre for Professional Nursing Education and the Clinical Simulation Centre to deliver innovative academic programming. We are leaders in simulation based learning and continuing education for nurses and other health care professionals.   Through partnerships with academic and industry leaders we are expanding inter-professional education and international opportunities for faculty and students.

Applications are invited for a full-time tenured appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Interprofessional Education and Simulation Learning. The successful candidate will serve as Chair of the Department for a 3-year renewable term. Requirements include: a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, research and scholarship consistent with appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor; a proven record of leadership, management and organizational skills in higher education; a graduate degree in nursing or a related field, with a doctoral degree preferred; and active licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.

Preferred candidates will have experience with: the development of continuing professional education in health disciplines; online course development or instruction; simulation pedagogy development and implementation; and accreditation and regulatory processes.  Candidates should also possess the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and enthusiasm for developing interprofessional education programming.
